Group and Individual Case Consultation
Even as therapists, we are in relationship, with our clients, with ourselves, and with the parts of us that show up in the room. Consultation offers a space to slow down, reflect, and deepen your understanding of the work. Not just what is happening for your clients, but what is happening within you as you sit with them.
I offer case consultation for licensed psychotherapists throughout California. This offering is especially well suited for early to mid-career therapists, as well as therapists at any level who are looking to deepen their Internal Family Systems practice. Some familiarity with IFS and a willingness to explore their parts (therapist parts and all parts) as they come up in the room with clients or in the room in consultation.
My approach to Clinical Consultation
Is Informed by Internal Family Systems, family systems theory, attachment theory, trauma-informed care, somatic awareness, narrative therapy, feminist theory, and a commitment to a decolonized, anti-bias, and gender-affirming framework. I also draw from group theory, 12 step recovery models, and solution-skill focused approaches such as DBT and Trauma informed CBT.
Together, we explore casework and interventions as well as our feelings and reactions that arise in the work by getting curious about your own internal system and the parts of you that are activated in the work. This is a space where no parts are unwelcome. The work invites honesty, reflection, and a willingness to stay with what arises.
This process can help you feel more grounded, more clear, and more resourced in your clinical thinking and decision-making. It supports both skill development and deeper self-awareness, strengthening your capacity to remain present and relational in complex clinical situations. I believe this support is lacking in our field and can lead to clinicians causing harm and struggling with boundaries in the work. I am committed to supporting clinicians in going as deep as they need to be a safe and competent provider without shame as a barrier.
Jessie Rose Cohen Clinical Experience
I am a systemic thinker, attending to both individual and relational systems. My consultation supports professional development through self-reflection and accountability for the ways our own histories and parts show up in the work.
This is not about getting it right. It is about building your capacity to stay present, think relationally, and respond with intention. Your professional self develops and is nourished in the process.
I bring over two decades of clinical experience as a psychotherapist and clinical consultant. I have worked in hospital settings, university settings, private practice, nonprofits, and community mental health. I am passionate about contributing to the field of mental health through teaching, writing, and training. You can read more about my clinical experience on my ABOUT PAGE or TRAINING PAGE.
My areas of focus include trauma and complex trauma, family systems and complex family dynamics, work with children and youth, and acute mental health concerns, including self-harm and suicidality. I also have extensive experience working with LGBTQ+ communities, including trans and nonbinary youth. I utilize IFS and other modalities to work with grief, identity, adoption, parenting, mental health, and time-of-life transitions. I aim to help clinicians be the best healers and helpers they can be and feel the ease and freedom of learning to find your clinical voice.
